Maya Sheridan-Martinez is a driving force behind the Dancehall scene in Sydney. One of the earliest champions of the dance style, Maya has helped to foster the growth and popularity of Dancehall dance and movement in Sydney and Australia since the mid 1990’s. She has pushed the boundaries of the genre in the city by forming one of the most sought after Dancehall dance squads in the city, the 101 Doll Squadron, and inviting Internationally acclaimed dancehall movement specialists from Paris and Jamaica to Sydney, to build on the skills of the cities dancehall practitioners. In her capacity as a Dancer and Choreographer Maya is formally trained in Contemporary, Ballet, Tap and Jazz and specializes in Dancehall and Afro-derived dance styles. She has performed in commercials, a feature film, and provided choreography for entertainment events such as the Annual Chinese New Year Parade for The City Of Sydney Council, the International FIFA World Cup Congress, Mercedes Benz, Apple, Gucci, Hugo Boss and worked with Artists as diverse as ‘The Voice’ winner Anja Nissen, Jessica Mauboy and Tina Arena amongst others.
